Britney Spears is Back on Top

December 10, 2008

With the release of her new album Circus, Britney Spears had a lot of pressure to produce another top-selling album.  And all signs point to a fully-fledged comeback on the horizon.

The “Womanzier” songstress is back with a boom- Circus is at number one on the album charts after selling as many as 500,000 copies in its first week.

Brit’s manager Larry Rudolph enthused, “At the end of the day, I think she is America’s pop princess, and the world’s pop princess, and this just reconfirms it to everyone who doubted it.  Professionally, she’s feeling great.  It’s great for her to hear that she’s got a No. 1 album again.”

Spears explained that Circus is much more accessible to her audience than Blackout was (which sold only 290,000 copies in its first week).  “Circus is a little bit lighter than Blackout.  A lot of the songs I did at that time, I was going through a really dark time so a lot of the songs reflect that.  They’re two totally different vibes.  This one has a lighter feel, a little bit more pop. Blackout is darker, edgier, more urban.”
